Long overdue update.....
Harrisburg, Wildwood, plus the Magnificent Seven (PLUS 4) entertain crowds at July 4th Parades
Harrisburg
Performing in our first mini corps competition in eight years, the Volunteers
were warmly applauded by an appreciative audience, who especially enjoyed
(along with the judges, the pyrotechnic mellophone solo by the one and only
Marty Roche, during our rendition of Caravan. In reviewing the judges
comments, it's clear that with some tweaking of our show, our scores will
climb next time out.
Making our annual venture to Wildwood, NJ for the American Legion State
convention, we put on a spirited performance during the parade, sounding
much stronger than the size hornline we put on the street. After the
parade, we played excerpts from our stage show for our Legion sponsors
who were most appreciative of our performance. Some of the highlights
included Dan Buruschkin making his solo debut on "You Made Me Love You"
and Marty Roche hitting a note so high at the end of Caravan, that probably
was heard by canines as far south as Cape May.
Indenpendence Day Parades
We might be small in number, but we still managed to put out a nice sound,
as we got numerous parade spectators in Rockledge, Pa and Ewing, NJ
clapping along to our patriotic music, and drum cadence. One of the parade
officials (who was riding along side the corps in a golf cart the entire time)
went out of her way to compliment our performance, after we had completed
two thirds of the second parade... it's nice to be acknowledged...
Next up for the corps in Augustis a parade in Bloomsbury, NJ followed by
a performance later in the month at the Reilly Raiders Standstill
